Earth Day

Recycling is so Important!  You can recycle electronics, phones, paper, plastic, glass, aluminum, cardboard, tin cans, phone books, and newspapers at SHOW INC. in Sapulpa, located across from the Salvation Army on Hickory.  You may also recycle at the MET in Sand Springs, located at 105 East Morrow Road. These companies employ many special needs individuals. Recycling saves water and trees, reduces pollution, creates jobs, and helps the community.

What Can you do?

Use reusable drinking bottles. Each day in the U.S. more than 60 million water bottles are thrown away. Americans buy enough plastic water bottles to circle the earth five times each week. 1.4 billion Capri Sun packages end up in landfills every year, enough to wrap around the earth five times.

Use reusable bags when shopping. It takes up to 1,000 years for a plastic bag to break down. On average, a plastic shopping bag is used for just 12 minutes. The US is responsible for around 327 billion bags ending up in the sea every year.

Turning off your lights when you leave the room will help reduce the use of non-renewable resources that are harmful to the environment. You can turn off the lights during the day especially if you don’t need them.

Recycling one aluminum can saves enough energy to listen to a full album on your ipod. Recycling Rocks!

Recycling 100 cans could light your bedroom for two whole weeks.

Recycle Paper and Cardboard. The average American uses seven trees a year in paper, wood, and other products made from trees. This amounts to about 2,000,000,000 trees per year. Please save trees by recycling. You can also turn off your appliances to help reduce your carbon footprint and help save the planet.
