   Here is some interesting information about keeping Healthy.
   Please encourage children to
wash hands after using the restroom and  before eating. They should use warm soapy water for at least 20 seconds (singing the alphabet song works).  Encourage children to examine under their fingernails.  If they have dirt under their fingernails then their hands are not clean. 
   Please have children 
cough and sneeze into their elbow. According to research sneezes travel at about 100 miles per hour and can send 100,000 germs into the air.
   Please have children
eat 5 to 7 servings of fresh fruit and vegetables every day.  Research indicates that fewer that 15% of children eat the recommended 5 or more daily servings of fruit and vegetables.  Try modeling eating fruit and vegetables to encourage your child to eat them.  The Center for Disease Control and Prevention reports that only 1 in 10 adults get enough fruits and vegetables.  Fruit snacks and fruit juice are not healthy alternatives.  Eating fresh fruit and vegetables every day help children grow and develop, boosts their vitality, and can reduce the risk of many chronic diseases such as heart disease, high blood pressure, some forms of cancer, and being overweight or obese. 
   Please have your child
drink lots of water.  A great way to teach your kids to stay hydrated is to have them look at their pee. Being hydrated means drinking enough so that your pee looks like water.  Yellow pee means you need more water.
   Please help your child
get at least 1 hour of physical activity a day.  Experts report that exercise can boost the immune system.  Exercise is important for bone and muscle health, for creating positive emotions, alleviating stress and preventing diseases later in life.
   Please have children
get enough sleep.  Experts recommend school aged children get about 9 to 11 hours of sleep.
